The slats are designed to catch an RPG or similar propelled device and detonate it away from the vehicle. The slat armor generally encircles the entire vehicle perimeter; the roof and wheels may or may not be protected. Kits may be attached to the vehicle using blast plates and mounting brackets included in the kit.
