They help prevent thromboembolism by the use of graduated pressure which decreases from the instep to the thigh. They may be knee or thigh length and have transparent, open-toe, or a similar foot design to permit frequent inspection of the circularly condition. Federal Law (Public Law 94-295 May 28, 1976) restricts this device to, sale by, or use on, the order of a physician. Excludes conventional knitted seamless elastic stockings shaped by blocking methods.
