6530-00-926-4731 A device which provides a pre-set, constant tension for cervical traction to a patient who is being evacuated by aircraft, motor vehicle, amphibious landing craft, and is capable of providing this constant traction force relatively independent of vehicular motion. It consists of a spring loaded drum onto which a wire cable is wound; the distal end of the cable being attached either to a cervical halter or to a Crutchfield tong. A crank is connected to a worm-gear drive for rotating the drum, which depending upon the direction of rotation, increases or decreases the degree of tension on the cable. The item is designed primarily for use on a litter with a patient in transit.
